Intrepid Ibex on a Vostro 200 here. I just got the 2.6.27-1-generic kernel via update-manager, no special action taken. This kernel, as well as the 2.6.26 kernel boots fine with disks set to IDE mode. I tried only once before going back to RAID and didn't check the install CD.
