There are some additional tips/tricks at
http://john.fremlin.de/programs/linux/read-edid/.  You might review
that.

If you happen to have windows installed on the box, he includes
directions for running the program under DOS.  Guess there's a chance
that might return the valid EDID.

Some additional questions...  Do you have any adapters, kvms, customized
cables or anything else unusual between your graphics card and your
monitor?  Do you have more than one graphics card installed?

You should also test booting with Option "IgnoreEDID" or Option
"IgnoreDDC".
