I'm hitting the exact same bug since I updated to intrepid, though I didn't pinpoint it to Compiz until today (I didn't use compiz until some days ago as I was affected by some unrelated mesa bug). I might also help if needed.
I have the same graphic card (965GM AKA x3100), could be related to that.
