When I wrote the above, I was under the mistaken impression that the DescribeSnapshots API was giving us inconsistent data. That was not the case. It was an error in the logic we put into place today to link snapshot-id to ami-id that caused us to misidentify the released Ubuntu builds as affected. Our primary concern in the notification was to prevent our Ubuntu users from avoid unexpected issues and in our haste acted on bad information. The list of AMIs below is correct.
