Hello, I think that Ubuntu integrates GNOME into Unity. Over the summer I was testing Ubuntu 13.04 with GNOME classic and I noticed some minor differences between a pure GNOME and GNOME integrated with Unity. For example, to close an application window in GNOME the x is on the right side of the window. In GNOME integrated with Unity the x is on the left side of the screen. There are other minor differenced too. Another thing I noticed is that Ubuntu ships with Thunderbird instead of Evolution and Thunderbird was integrated into the GNOME classic application bar. So for complete GNOME experience use Ubuntu GNOME.
