So far, we have gtk updated to 3.10, a new kernel, new Mesa, probably there will be a new X server and most of the underlying libraries will be updated. In short there will be lots of changes that need testing, even if the user 'visible' changes are minimal. As for the GNOME side, it will be a 3.8 base, with as much of 3.10 as we can get in (already quite a few apps are at 3.10). gnome-shell should hopefully be updated to 3.10 also. Beyond that its not entirely clear right now, however with Canonical forking gnome-settings-daemon and gnome-control-center hopefully we can get them up to 3.10 also, in which case it will be more 3.10 than 3.8 The whole MIR vs Wayland thing, is entirely irrelevant for now. Ubuntu 14.04 is using X. X is not going to just disappear overnight! Ubuntu GNOME 14.10 will likely continue using X, even if Ubuntu switch to Mir. At some point in the distant future we will probably switch to wayland, but right now its not even close to being ready. Tim
