Absolutely. I tend to use a USB to serial controller on mine, but that should work. You will need a method of utilizing the PTT on the Rig though, unless you are planning on using voice operated key up's...  

Which rig control program are you using?

Thanks David, I have a usb sound dongle I can use, will usbip forward that along with the serial?

Subject:[Ubuntu-hams] Remote rig control

Hello everyone,

I have a TS-440sat connected up to a linux box for digital mode using FLdigi and WSJT, is their a relatively easy way to remotely control the radio from another computer on the LAN? I've tried RDP and VNC both cause problem with routing the audio to the client computer rather than to the rig, am I missing a setup / configuration step? Or is there a better way to do it?

XCVR: TS-440SAT
CAT: USB CAT cable from Ebay
Audio: Tried both onboard and via USB dongle sound card
Linux: Xbuntu 14.04
