ok so i did the following copied the first dvd of the set to a usb disk location /media/disk/ubuntu7_10/dvd710_1/ubuntu/dists/
added the following line to sources.list deb file:///media/disk/ubuntu7_10/dvd710_1/ubuntu main multiverse universe then did the atp-get update and the following are the results top:~$ sudo apt-get update Password: Ign file: main Release.gpg Ign file: main/multiverse Translation-en_IN Ign file: main/universe Translation-en_IN Ign file: main Release Ign file: main/multiverse Packages Ign file: main/universe Packages Err file: main/multiverse Packages File not found Err file: main/universe Packages File not found Failed to fetch file:///media/disk/ubuntu7_10/dvd710_1/ubuntu/dists/main/multiverse/binary-i386/Packages.gz File not found Failed to fetch file:///media/disk/ubuntu7_10/dvd710_1/ubuntu/dists/main/universe/binary-i386/Packages.gz File not found Reading package lists...
