Instead you can point to Java version you want at /etc/alternatives/java.
The file is a symbolic linkl pointing to the java we need.

for eg:
james@james-ubuntu14:~$ ls -l /usr/bin/java
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 May 14  2014 /usr/bin/java ->
/etc/alternatives/java

james@james-ubuntu14:~$ ls -l /etc/alternatives/java
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39 Nov 29  2014 /etc/alternatives/java ->
/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle/jre/bin/java

so if you delete the link /etc/alternatives/java and recreate with new path
using ln -s you can use any of the multiple java versions you have
