the probability is that it is a malfunctioning fan ? The temperatures are usually on the lower side - am in a cool place with low ambient temperatures and rarely do the temperatures get very high
the fan seems to rev to high speed as soon as the core temperatures touch 48, funnily the fan speed shows below 2000 rpm at this this stage as soon as the temperatures cross 50 the rev starts up from the time i cold start the laptop, there is only a small fraction of the time that the laptop runs silent I guess it needs some fan cleaning, some cooling paste thanks ram On 23 February 2016 at 13:12, Kesavan Subburam <[email protected]> wrote: > Have you checked the CPU temperature? > > $ sensors > On 22-Feb-2016 1:18 pm, "Ramnarayan.K" <[email protected]> wrote: > >> Hi >> >> The fan on my x220 seems to be out of control - it starts up and stays at >> high rev through out >> >> any idea how to control this >> >> have installed lm-sensors and fancontrol and thinkfan - but it seems they >> need a config file ?? >> >> would be grateful for the help >> >> not just the noise but the vibrations are quite unnerving >> >> ram >> >> -- >> ubuntu-in mailing list >> [email protected] >> https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in >> >> > -- > ubuntu-in mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in > >
