I agree, I think people expect a fair assessment of what is required
to run the software, not just 'what you could get away with if your
in a tight spot' I will increase the specs a little.

To be honest I think I got them from the 5.04 release or the wiki

I'm glad you like them, and I'm glad you peer reviewed them, I can
fix anything like the specs bug.
Aside: My sister has Kubuntu on a PII 333 with only 64MB RAM and
it's a snail. it runs but only _just_. that's why I ordered her
new pc in parts this weekend (being a good brother).
Cool, I don't think there are official minimum specifications for
Ubuntu, well not that I have found anyway. However I am writing a
sort of training manual to use to run some free computer training
courses in my local community and one of the things I was trying to
work out was minimum respectable specs for a suitable computer
should people short on cash just want to buy a cheap second hand pc.
Most references just generalise this and say it will run on most
hardware, if it is slow then try Xubuntu etc etc. However I do not
think this is appropriate advice for anyone that is a novice and or
new to computers in general.
Cheers,
Andy
