After trying to communicate with the art team on several occasions and being totally unsucessfull i believe that we need to do some marketing to stimulate growth and boost participation of the art team.
I suggest a contest to create X/Ed/K/Ubuntu wallpapers to get people interested in creating artwork for the ubuntu project.
Imagine a website where we set a target amount and a target date (1000 in a year)and try to get people to participate towards that aim.
Then imagine serveral different catagories (age or location or anything) and all 1000 being judged within their relevent catagories and a "winner" being picked for each one.
What if we can then convince 'whoever' to include those winners in Ubuntu 7.?? as "official" backgrounds once the competition is over, or we could even hold a judging in time for inclusion in each release.
any thoughts?
