I think that the comment on that page was wrong about ubuntu. Certainly there could be more space given to desktop computing on www.ubuntu.com. However most of the page is given over to the community and spirit of Ubuntu. There are two prominent links on that page, one to desktop the other to server, maybe in some review some of that information could filter to the front page of the site.
