This article is well worth reading if you love Ubuntu.

It is not particularly favourable, but I think it is typical of what
will be many others in future now that Ubuntu has got a visible place
on many peoples radar. It offers how others see us. Gold dust for
Marketing I suggest.

I know there are weaknesses in what is said and the basis on which the
reviewer proceeds. However, If I had his hardware I might find many of
the same comments. I still cannot get an out of box good display from
7.04 live cd on my dell inspiron 1100 even though pclinuxos can.
Whatever the good reasons, it is not the best experience for *users*.

And yes I *know* the hardware he chose is likely to have been made
with only windows in mind, and I also know that most joe/jane users
are not likely to have experience of install of a second windows OS,
or even install a single windows OS themselves, to compare the process
with.

However, we want and expect Ubuntu to be the best linux distro out
there, and be a real and lively option for as many users as possible.
Ubuntu can improve, let us continue to focus on what is seen by
outsiders.
This is why I commend the article.

A number of the adverse comments are currently under discussion in the
Ubuntu ecosystem. I trust they will get resolved well and promptly.
