OK, just checked with the devs... the official word is that the
installer does work with systems having less than 256M of RAM,
however, much less than that and the desktop system won't work
"reasonably."

That maybe why they asked me to update the website... no use
advertising that the alternate cd installer works with < 256M if the
desktop won't work well on such a system.
