Hi everybody, I'm not sure whose idea it was in the first place, but Stephan Hermann's term "Jedi-Padawan relationship" stuck in my head and it echoed there for some days now.
I think it'd be a capital idea to plan and announce an "Open Day" in a big fashion. On that day everybody of us grabs one of the interested folks by the hand and tell them, what it's like to be a maintainer and what we do. This would make it easy for people who feel intimidated by the whole process and "the maintainer elite" to ask questions not in a big forum, but privately. I think this would even speed up our review process, if people would not dump their packages and stuff no REVU and leave it there rotting for ages until the next Review Day, but have somebody to talk to, somebody to ping, when stuff goes wrong. It's my personal belief, that we have a lot of people out there, who would really like to contribute and help forming new teams, but are intimidated by "geek talk" their read in blogs and mailing lists. Getting started in the MOTU world is not rocket science, after all. Please help getting this organised properly. Reply today and tell me, what issues you see and what you would like us to do on such a day. It would also be nice to ask people where there interests lie and if they would like to join or start off a team. Go Wild! :-) Daniel
