Hello,

I recently read an online thread describing problems that users are having with the gmp-ecm that is available for Ubuntu 13.10. It appears that gmp-ecm 6.4.2, when compiled with GMP 5.1.x, has a bug that will sometimes prevent it from finding factors of numbers. You can read a discussion of, and see the solution to, this on the ecm-discuss list here:
http://lists.gforge.inria.fr/pipermail/ecm-discuss/2013-July/004234.html

You can also see the bug report filed with Debian back in 2013-June here:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=713399

I am not familiar with bug filing procedures, or how to ask that a package in this repository be updated, but I was hoping that by reporting it here someone would be willing to update the package available to Ubuntu 13.10 (and later, if necessary). I believe the best solution would be to update to gmp-ecm 6.4.4 as that has several bug fixes included in it. If you have any additional questions, or would like additional details, please let me know. Thanks for your time.
