Pull works fine, as does ssh, if you start it on the phone first (adb shell start ssh). What command did you use to try and pull the .crash file?
Anyway, with recent images, please just run /usr/share/apport/whoopsie-upload-all, it will upload all the .crash files to http://errors.ubuntu.com/ for retracing and aggregation.
