Hi there ..... The problem went away. Yesterday, the battery went
flat, and I didn't have the phone with me. after I'd charged it, the
launcher bar worked as it should. I'd never thought of anything quite
that simple.
Thanks again for all the suggestions. It didn't need a factory reset,
just a soft reset. Somehow, I never got round to trying that.
