I had read that thread, but it was not clear if it was mako/Nexus 4
specific or Ubuntu Touch in general.
I've searched around, found this

It suggested adding the ID for the Pro 5 (2a45) to
~/.android/adb_usb.ini, but on my 16.04 system there is no ini file, so
I created one, and added 0x2a45, stopped and restarted adb, but to no
avail (not sure why I would need the adb server, in this case anyway).

I would think editing the "/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules"
might produce results. This is, as I recall, the sort of editing needed
in Ubuntu of old (10.04 era, thereabouts)
