I never used it, I suspect the child's name is Ardour. Ardour does not support DSSI, right? fluidsynth-dssi works very well, assumed the host supports DSSI ;). I still guess it's good to provide selections of plugins, instead of providing packages that come with 99% junk, but those collections should include LADSPA, DSSI and LV2. VST, even native Linux VST, should definitively be separated (or completely abandoned :p). Sure, Ardour is the only AIO DAW available for Linux, but if a users wants a AIO DAW, IMHO Linux anyway is the wrong approach. For Apple and Microsoft based systems there are much better DAWs available than Ardour. For Linux we simply need to select, IOW use a another strategy. For example, Qtractor is not a DAW, audio track support is disgusting, but even while the MIDI sequencer is not perfect and Rui is not willing to fix some issues, it at least is better than Ardour's MIDI implementation and it provides DSSI. For what reason, if not for Ardour, a user should prefer another sound font plugin over fluidsynth-dssi?
