The output ports are playback_1 through playback_8. Capture ports are capture_1 through capture_6. I've now updated the firmware by installing the device on a Mac, and making sure it worked. However, returning to my Ubuntu laptop I still get no sound from any Jack-aware applications. WHAT IS GOING ON?!
