I've been using Hardy Alphas on my Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop since January and have been reporting bugs like mad. The vast majority are fixed pretty quickly, within a week. In particular I was proud to help out testing some quite serious Intel video driver issues for Compiz (3D desktop) which I'm happy to say are totally resolved now. Pretty much everything works now except hibernate. Hibernate is a total lottery, three quarters of the time it hangs on resumption, a quarter of the time it just works as normal. The developers claim this is due to yet more Intel video driver bugs, which is ironic given that the Intel driver is open-source yet seems to be massively more buggy than the Nvidia driver which is closed source. Hmmm. As a fan of LTS releases, I intend to move all my servers to Hardy a couple of months after it is released. Since none of them run Intel graphics, I'm pretty confident. -- Andrew Oakley -- [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
