ClamAV is probably the most widely known/used but I don't know of many who really use it. Unless you are forwarding infected files to poor individuals on *other* less secure operating systems then there is little need IMHO. We have set up Clam and Squid to do checking on all Internet traffic but it can be resource intensive if the box is used for other stuff too. I find the Wildlist very interesting: http://www.wildlist.org/WildList/200906.htm This monitors active viruses actually *in the wild*. For the June 2009 report all 753 viruses target the Win32 API...
