Sounds like you don't have the ability to access ~/.bash_history. An
easy fix is to delete this file (as long as there's no important
history you want to keep) :

sudo rm ~/.bash_history

And then try opening a terminal, typing some commands, closing then
re-opening another terminal.

Yippee that worked, thank you so much, now I found another problem, I cant use aptitude it says aptitude not found, do I have to install it?
