As with others, the proviso is that I haven't tried these methods, but
both the wiki and forum thread seem to be well supported with updates
(for the Wiki) and ongoing discussions (for the forum).

Just to confirm, your link [1] I had already seen; that is where I got
the hint not only to change the boot settings, switch off "secure boot",
etc, but also to switch off "quick start" in the Windows 8 Control Panel
(I erroneously referred to it as "fast boot" in a previous message).
