I had a *lot* of Compiz/Unity crashes on 12.10, so I've been running the 13.04 alpha and then beta version for a month or so and it seems to be significantly more stable. FWIW, I found that to use `unity --replace` I had to switch to a virtual console (Ctrl-Alt-F1 thru' F6) and log in and run it from there. In a terminal, I found that just using compiz & ... worked better. Unity is a Compiz plugin, so whichever caused the crash, restarting Compiz also restarts Unity. -- Liam Proven • Profile: http://lproven.livejournal.com/profile Email: [email protected] • GMail/G+/Twitter/Flickr/Facebook: lproven MSN: [email protected] • Skype/AIM/Yahoo/LinkedIn: liamproven Tel: +44 20-8685-0498 • Cell: +44 7939-087884 -- [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
