hey guys! it's me once again and this time I'm reporting on one of my other Ubuntu projects. This one's my very own recording studio.

For those of you who may know me a little more, I'm a musician and a biker. One of my long time dreams was to finally have my own recording studio so I could pick up my guitar, put some songs together, do the whole process of engineering, recording, producing, editing, mastering and releasing it out into the world.

That dream's one step closer. I picked up a very valuable piece of hardware today that puts me closer to having this recording studio. What I got was a Dell Precision T1600 desktop tower with the Intel Xeon processor and I believe it's a quad core unit with up to 32 GBs of RAM and I can put a high end graphics card inside of it as well. Now I need to find the M-Audio Delta 1010 audio interface, purchase a Shure SM-57 microphone and all of my guitar gear.

Why am I telling you this? I'm doing this to show the world that you don't have to spend millions of dollars on equipment and software to record music. This tower cost me a whopping $35! I was thrilled to get this. And another reason I'm talking about this is that I've been a long time user of Ubuntu Studio and I want to record an album using that and show everyone that a professional recording can be done on FREE, OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE! I majored in Music and Audio Engineering back in the 90s and this is that dream coming true.

And to keep the mailing list from piling up with my emails about the whole process, I'll put the whole process up on my personal site if I can manage to get that finished up.

So this is Ubuntu project #2 for me. #1 was getting my LG Nexus 5 running Ubuntu Touch, and that's done and waiting for the write up and now, #2's underway. Stay tuned!
