Alright: I have found this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI
I have tried that in the past. I removed the default driver and installed these from binaries. My screen blanks during boot. fglrxinfo display: :0 screen: 0 OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc. OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series OpenGL version string: 4.1.11005 Compatibility Profile Context The hardware is supported. The tutorial mentions 4 files, I only get 3. The missing one is: fglrx- modaliases_~ Do you know if this is default for this version? Surely it's missing? Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838577 Title: GNOME Shell display problems with FGLRX To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/838577/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
