No, at least in that stage the previous installation cannot create any problem 
to the new one. As i said, check the cd for errors.
If the cdrom has no errors, I'm afraid that it depends on some incompatibility 
between your pc and the installer, and that you will have to download the 
alternate cd for a "pseudo-graphic" installation, less shiny but often more 
effective than the live-desktop installation.
