Dylan McCall proposed the following answer: Have you tried downloading from a different mirror? Sometimes specific mirrors have issues further down the line. Also, I agree with actionparsnip here: Using bittorrent, if your ISP allows it (please yell at them for me if they don't), is the best way to go. Torrents are faster; they can be paused and resumed easily so you don't need to do it all at once; and they take stress off of web servers so that it costs less to distribute stuff. (Which is great for Ubuntu as a whole). How it works is everyone downloads at full speed from many sources, and while downloading you also upload chunks of that same file. This way, everybody contributes to keeping that file available for others to download at high speed. (Don't worry, it's completely secure; the only thing being uploaded is that file you are downloading, and nobody has access to your system). If you are already using Ubuntu, a good bittorrent client is Transmission. You can open that from the Applications menu, under Internet -> Transmission BitTorrent Client. If you are using Mac OS X, Transmission is also a nice choice.
