If you re-map the keyboard shortcuts to be ctrl+shortcut key, then it should work. It worked on my laptop.

In the preferred Application I set that the music player is Banshee via the system preferences. But when i press Ctrl+Alt+M it launches Totem. In the same i set that the Play/Pause is the Pause Button. The button does function (I checked via xev), but Banshee ignore it. But I set also that the next song is played with Shift+Ctrl+Pag_Down and this functions! Is it a bit odd, or not?
