If anyone is planning to use the Ubuntu user space NFS server for
servicing diskless systems, please heed this advice.
DONT USE IT!!!
I just wasted some time because of a "feature" (a bug if you ask me)
of this server where it does not handle file locking properly.
Diskless systems have problems with this. You can get more info from /
usr/share/doc/nfs-user-server/README.CDF.
In 'humble' openion there should have been a big WARNING on this
package description.

Use the "nfs-kernel-server" instead.

Cheers (after some frustration)
  Janaka
