Evening All

I currently run Microsoft SBS 2000 with the bundled Exchange Server,
and to quite honest, other than I have never got round to setting up
push mail I am very happy with it. So why am I looking else where?

Well, I'm not running it for the company I work for, I'm not a company
at all I'm a private individual and the system I have is not fully
legal. I'm not running knocked off versions, just technically I
should no longer be running it. If I had a some cash I would probably
look at getting a cosha version, but I've decided to use this
oppotunity to look at Linux etc .

What am I looking for? Well simply put an alternative to exactly what
I have now, so the domain, the home drive, the Exchange Server
equivalent, but the one stumbling block is that I have a XDA, which is
currently on Mobile 5, but I will shortly flashing it bck up to Mobile
6. Currently I have this set up very nicely such that it syncs email,
calendar and contacts with exchange while I'm out and about. I want
to keep exactly that functionality, and preferably I'd like push
technology as well rather than just pull.

My quick investigation so far has led me to think of Ubuntu and Zimbra
(open source version) because as far as I can make out it does support
all 3 points, though whether it does push I'm not sure. And it free.

I've set up Sun xVM Virtual box and I'm downloading Ubuntu Server as
we speak, what I would like to hear, without the anti Microsoft
additions please, are people's thoughts on these decisions, better
alternatives, OS and/or Exchange alternative. (Though I realise that
being a Ubuntu list you guys are unlikley to suggest a different OS!)

Thanks

Tom
