Simply try this (if you have not):
Use this URL-format

ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Then you'll get a prompt for password and should get in to the users
directory. Else try ftp://sever.domain/directoryname for force the
browser to the wanted directory.

Then go over your configurations for both the user-accounts and vsftpd
so see it there might be any settings causing thie behaviour. I've
seen this long time ago but do not have acces to that installation no
more
 so I cannot tell you exactly what to look for.
