When you boot up recent PC's you have an option to press a key - on mine it's F11 Then you can tell it to boot that device.
As far as I know this treats the device you choose independently so if you have installed Linux on your removable disc >>>> with your windows disc disconnected <<<< It should boot without complaint. Also If you have windows on your fixed disc >>>> and when you installed it the removable was NOT formatted or installed or >>>> anything<<<<< then if you choose to boot from it then it should be fine. This is NOT the same as changing the boot order from the bios screen. Just choosing the order would simply try to boot from the first device then, if that failed it would go to the second and so on.
