Hmm .. It all sounded so simple =) First when I tried to boot from the second harddrive the one with ubuntu (after disconnecting the first harddrive) the bios startup thingy says : Searching for boot record IDE-0..OK And then NOTHING happens .. I was a bit surprised there .. expected atleast an Grub eror or something .. so I booted up with the ubuntu CD and did the "grub> setup (hd0)" thing and still nothing happens .. I edited the menu.lst and still nothing .. Eny ide what could be wrong ? I do belive that there is a ubuntu 5.10 on that drive and it should atleast start booting .. The instalation thing for ubuntu 8.10 refuses to overwrite the old version so that sucks to ..
And now since I had windows put its virtual memory on another partition on that second disk now windows bluescreens everytime I try to start it .. and that sucks even more .. suggestions ? =) On Jan 5, 3:51 pm, linuxonbute <[email protected]> wrote: > When you boot up recent PC's you have an option to press a key - on > mine it's F11 > Then you can tell it to boot that device. > > As far as I know this treats the device you choose independently > so if you have installed Linux on your removable disc>>>> with your windows > disc disconnected <<<< > > It should boot without complaint. > > Also If you have windows on your fixed disc>>>> and when you installed it the > removable was NOT formatted or installed or anything<<<<< > > then if you choose to boot from it then it should be fine. > > This is NOT the same as changing the boot order from the bios screen. > Just choosing the order would simply try to boot from the first device > then, > if that failed it would go to the second and so on. > > On 4 Jan, 14:33, sillyshitt <[email protected]> wrote: > > > What do U mean by BIOS SWITCHING ?
