That's a good read, it did help me understand a bit of what is going on and also find out that my problem seems to be alsa related not pulse, since pasuspender does not resolve the problem.
Is there a read you could recommend that would explain the /etc/ asound.conf file a bit more as I'm certain my solution now lies in there.
