1. Both work well. But just to be cautious use the Vista partitioning. 2. Should; but never tried it. 3. AFAIK most 64bit bugs stem from poorly written applications code rather than the Kernel or libraries. So check with the apps you intend to run. 4. CUBE is part of Compiz. So after installing the OS, just get the Compiz and related packeges (Compiz-gnome, compiz-plugins, compizconfig-settings-manager, emerald, ..) installed and change the desktop effects settings.
