If you are using a command line editor, then use the command "sudo" in
front of the editor of your choice (default is nano). If you are using
a GUI editor (default is gedit), then issue the command "gksudo."

Just remember to preface the "su" (superuser) with "gk" if you are
trying to open a GUI application as Root.
