He most probably installed it via WUBI, hence the presence of the "host" directory. Anyway, I don't think that it's recommended to delete the 'host folder' just like that.
If you want to get rid of your Windows, then fire up the LiveCD, and while installing select to use the entire disk which will wipe out everything.
