The much larger point is that virus writers have in the past and currently are targeting Mozilla and Thunderbird. They have succeeded on previous occasions and will continue to succeed sporadically.
I do not expect to convince anyone who makes the following statement "Basically I don't care about spreading Windows viruses." that they are running something putting their computer and others at risk. I simply won't run Thunderbird since email clients are the easiest method of establishing a bot-net...OK, second easiest, but most reliable.
