Hello! I had the same problem, get the same error. I´ve tried the installation from DVD (without internet connection) with all possible combinations (even different filesystems, ext4, ext3, and different partition sizes) and found a WORKAROUND:
Just select ONLY 2D/3D packages in the step of software packages to install. The rest of the software packages (audio suite, audio plugins, video suit) can be added later from DVD, once Ubuntu Studio is running, using Synaptics Packages Manager. (you´ll need just to add the DVD as a package source for they to appear in the packages list) Well, I hope this help.
