Don't want to spend too long typing so here is a mini report for Craniac's sake...
I think we had record attendance this time around as I believe the total came to about 15-16 people at its peak... We played a quick half game of Crokinole but so many people showed up on time that we set it aside and started up the fun. I have been in the mood for a good old fashioned classic for a while now and there were enough people around that were willing to put up with my pathetic needs that we got a game of Amun-Re to the table. This game continues to deliver on enjoyment for me and tonight was no different. Alas Nate Tingen ended up completing FOUR of the special bonus cards in a single turn age which I have NEVER seen happen before. Usually it feels like the temples play a pretty major factor in the game but this time they were almost non-existant and the bonus cards played a more important factor. Of course Nate had to pay out the NOSE for a specific property that helped him meet some of those requirements but in the end he beat us by over 10 points so it obviously paid off. Great fun. I was then going to play a game of dice town but enough were interested and a game of Ghost Stories needed a teach so I stepped aside and joined in on Ghost Stories. Lets just say that thing did NOT go well for us this time around and some pretty nasty ghosts came up pretty early. We were scrambling out of the starting gate. We were well in to 2/3rd of the game when dicetown ended and Andrew wanted to play a new copy of ChinaTown. I knew it wasn't one my wife would enjoy so I swapped places with her. She reports that all the monks ended up dying in a last ditch effort to kill Wu-Feng but he was victorious. China Town was a fun game to play... but I need to try it a couple more times. I have concerns that with certain types of players it could potentially play out like Colloseum (which I abhor) but THIS game certainly didn't play that way. There is a phase of open trading with open information - get with a few AP players who won't make a trade because it doesnt give them any advantage and it would be a dragged out nightmare. In our case people were making quick snap judgements and that made it fun. If I see some guy pull out a calculator though I would walk away and never touch the game again :) I would like to see it hit the table again though. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "utah county boardgamers association" group.
