Roger,

You could port the SMAC project for the M5208EVB to
uClinux. It is available at:
http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=MCF5208&nodeId=0162468rH3YTLC00M91277

(Look for M5208EVB_SMAC )

Instead of direct access to SPI registers you could
use QSPI uClinux driver.
