Hello, I had some problems too with some modems, you can try to put the character '\d' which permits to wait, the script chat can be something like this :
ABORT BUSY ABORT 'NO CARRIER' '' ATZ\r\n OK\r\n \dATE0\r\n OK\r\n \dAT\r\n OK\r\n \dATDTxxx\r\n CONNECT '' Try after to see in the /var/log/messages where the script fails...
