Hi Siegfried,

Siegfried Müller wrote:
After checking the schematics of the board, i saw GPIO8 for reset the
PCI. It is not used in the arch config startup code.
Could that be a problem?

I don't quite follow?
Do you mean that you think that this might be a floating line
and causing spurious resets?

Greg

Hi Greg,

Does the problem occur with all flash memory sticks
you have tried?
I tried different sticks, all with the same effect.

Can you try a different Montejade board?
I only have one original montejade board. I also have our own designed
board, which has the same USB-Host controller. On this board i have the
same problem. At this time i have no meaning on what side the problem
is. (Software, Hardware, Kernel settings)
The USB-Host controller or the board. For this it would be helpful to
know, if somebody has a running Montejade with USB.

Does ANYONE has a running IXP425 with the USB-Host controller
NECuPD720101?

Thank and regards
Siegfried

Hi Siegfried,

Siegfried Müller wrote:
I have the same problem with snapgear 3.5.
Unloading the modules takes no effect.

I also tried to simple copy a file from the usb storage to the usb
storage. (cp test1 test2) It is the same effect, the system crashes.

Greg, any idea?

Hmm, not really, no.

Hi Greg,

It is snapgear 3.4. Is there a known bug in 3.4 for this problem? I
will try to not load the modules for a test. Regards Siegfried

Hi Siegdried,

Siegfried Müller wrote:
Is there anyone who can help me?
I can't say anything is immediately obvious to me from the dumps. I
take it that the problem is no different if none of the IXP eth modules or ocf is loaded at the time of test?

With snapgear dist version is this?
If not 3.5 then you could try updating too.

Greg

Hi Greg,

Is there anything you can see in the kernel messages, which can help

Hi Greg,

I use kernel 2.6.17. It is different where the kernel traps. Here are

two reports when copying files from the usb-storage to a mounted nfs:

Hi Siegfried,

Siegfried Müller wrote:
Hi everyone,
I'm using montaejade ixp425. I configured snapgear-linux with EHCI,OHCI,UHCI + USB-Storage + SCSI. I can mount the external
storage
device with: mount /dev/sda1 /var/usb -t vfat -o sync and i can
browse
on the memorystick. I also have an "nfs" mount on for example
/var/nfs to another computer. If I copy files bigger than ~5MB from the memorystick to the another computer, my system crashes with: "Unable to handle kernel pagging request at virtual address xxxxxx
(the
address different anytime)"

Also in the other direction (computer to memorystick)
It seems that it depends on the filesize?!
Does anyone has an idea?
What version kernel are you using?
Where in the kernel does it trap?

Regards
Greg
