Hi,

I've been trying to build a working samba and have not been very successful so
far. The problem is that all of the samba executables (well, smbd and
smbmount, anyway) segfault shortly after they're invoked. GDB indicates that
the segfault is happening in line 113 of ./lib/iconv.c, in the function
smb_register_charset. This happens immediately after it's tried to register
charset CP850. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, do you know if
there's a patch out there that will fix it?

I'm not sure, but I believe that this may be basically the same uClibc-samba
incompatibility problem that's referred to here
http://lists.uclibc.org/pipermail/uclibc/2002-February/002639.html
Unfortunately, this refers to a much older samba than the one currently in
snapgear/uClinux, and I also don't see attachments for some of the files that
he says you need to fix the problem (codepage.850, etc.)

Alternately, does anyone know of a version of Samba that's known to build
against uClibc and run correctly? I don't really care if it's the latest and
greatest Samba... I just need basic samba client functionality in my product.

Thanks
