no one has requested it nor posted a patch, so if there's no demand, things arent likely to change. the only reason echo/printf were made into builtins was because someone put stuff together for it (and showed that there's significant performance improvements). considering the current builtin framework that hush has, i doubt making cat into a builtin would be hard. -mike
