Morning Vishal:

I have not heard back from the developer list on taking part in GSoC this year,
we had a meeting last week but the topic was not raised. We have traditionally
joined the OSGeo mob with respect to involvement in GSoC, but with our recent
involvement in LocationTech I am actually not sure what we need to do.

The proposals for GSoC actually come from students such as yourself, a large
part of our selection criteria is actually based on communication (which you
are acing by contacting us on the email list).

We have had mixed success in pervious years, often due to lack of
communication, but also due to students treating this as an assignment and
trying to do things at the last moment. Based on this we suggest students
finish functionality early and take the last three weeks to work on the other
parts of open source (documentation, ensuring your code shows up in a release …
and communication).

All the best,
